Numark NS6ii – Feature Overview

Numark NS6ii – Just Released!

Numark are back with another DJ controller, the Numark NS6ii. This is a 4 channel Serato DJ enabled controller. The Numark NS6ii is aimed at the pro DJ market and features all Numark’s touch capacitive knobs and effects, similar to that on the Numark NV2 which we reviewed here.

Lets take a closer look at this controller.

What performance features does it have?

The Numark NS6ii has all the regular performance pad modes found on most controllers of its size and price. From hot cue to auto loop, slicer to sampler, manual loops, saved loops, cue loops, roll and looped beat jump it’s not short of features.

It also has 6 EQ knobs to access all the izotope FX within Serato DJ, plus a needle search strip to easily scroll to different points in your track. Another great feature to see on this controller are the full size pitch faders for precise beat matching.

Touch Capacitive Knobs

Touch capacitive knobs are basically a feature that enables two things to happen with one adjustment. When the mode is active you can add a roll that gets tighter as you apply the filter. Or you can add an echo as you apply the filter all with one hand.

You can also turn the EQs into total kill switches just by touching the desired EQ knob. This is great for a quick total kill of the bass for example.

Inputs & Outputs

Aimed at the pro level mobile DJ or club DJ alike, the Numark NS6ii has XLR outputs and a booth output (only a line output for booth). It also has 2 independent mic inputs which don’t take over any channels on the unit which is a nice added touch!

Jog Wheel Displays

On each jog wheel there is a small LCD screen. This screen shows the current BPM of the track, plus wether the key lock is on as well as a time elapsed/remaining bar. This will help you focus on the equipment and not the laptop while performing.

Our Thoughts…

We definitely feel Numark has responded well to the market and upgraded the NS6 well. The on board displays are one of our favourite features. Plus the fact that you can use this as a standalone mixer or with DVS (after an upgrade) is also a big selling point. We haven’t got our hands on one yet so we can’t comment on the build quality but it’s nice to see they have added a roll bar to the front to help protect the mic and headphone level knobs. We think its priced very fairly for a saturated controller market and would be suitable for either beginner or pro DJ alike. It sits perfectly in that mid range category alongside units like the Pioneer DDJ SX2, or DDJ RX. However for £100 cheaper you can get your hands on the Numark NV2 a product we love!
